Burning tv to dvd- from media center

First I would like to say if this is the wrong area i'm sorry. Anyway I want to burn media center recorded tv to a dvd but the software media center wants to burn with takes hours. I belive sonic is the hardware that it uses. Is their anyway to change formats and run these recorded tv threw shrink & decrypter. Any help would be great I hate using sonic threw media center last time I recorded two episodes of weeds it took like a hour and fifty three minutes to do a hour program. My comuter specs are 2.80 ghz dual processor twin 500gb hd and 2gb of ram I see no reason for that to take 2 hrs to copy so i think it's the program also sonic the program only lets you put 1 hour 30 minutes per dvd that sucks. Any help would be great
