AVI file problem no picture no sound

I downloaded a movie and when I went to play it there was to picture and no sound. I thought that maybe there was a problem with the codecs so I reinstalled all of them but that did nothing. So I look in the properties of the video and then I clicked on the summary tab and under video compression it said uncompressed. Is there any program out there that can do anything to the file so I can watch it. The file is an AVI file.

Use GSpot to find out which codecs you need for the movie...Although I have a feeling that youll find a Four CC code of '0' and that usually means youve got a fake AVI.

I used GSpot and it said the video is not compressed. It also says that the file's length is consistent with the information embedded within the file.

What was the FourCC code of the movie?

And what codecs did it say you needed?

I have never seen that particular FourCC code before...Im not too sure on how to help you. Try looking around other message boards...divx.com forums is a good one.

Isnt FourCC of RGB mean that there is no video compression used? which would suggest fake.
