No, never. I'm guessing it's junk afterall. All you really need is genuine Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell (Made In Japan by Hitachi Corp.) and you'll be out of misery.

I can vogue for the RICOHJPN disks. According to this media guide it's #1 in second rated disks..... I never had a problem with them and my old Memorex code out to RICOHJPN and after 2-3 yrs it's still going strong.... no skipping, pixelations, or freezes and you and still rip the DVD to hard drive without errors! My Sony RWs code out to RICOHJPN and they are great too.

I have a few Emtec disks that code as RICOHJPN MIJ's, they're good disks.

I would still stick to the MIJ rule! Verbatim is the only Taiwan/Singapore disks that I would intentionally buy now. Everything else I use is Taiyo Yuden!
@Creaky.... since joining Afterdawan..... Taiyo Yuden is what I use 99.99% of the time now. Wish they made a Lightscribe version! And when I want LightScribe I use Verbatim!

no problem ripper, only had 50 Emtec at the most as it was a gift tub of 50.
Can't face rounding them all up all at once as it took me so many days to rid my collection of 100s of FAKE TY ie 'Bulkpaq Orange' 8x
/me still needs therapy about those discs so i'll leave it there
@IHoe - you know me - 'Verbatim TY', vanilla TY and vanilla Verbatim are all that make the grade for me, anything else let near my burners better have a damn good reason for being there :P

Yeah On The Ricohjpn front ! like most I mainly Prefer The Verbatims, Taiyo Yudens, & Occasionally Ritek's = Officedepot/Maxells. With the Maxell(MIj's) thrown in the mi for good measure. That Being said I have limmited experience with Ricohjpn's 4X DVD+R /!TDk's That I bought a good while back ! I know that Tdk's Own media is/was sometimes spotty quality wise ! and that they've pretty much gotten out of the blank dvd media bussiness! what's on the shelves being old stock .But as I said earlier these disc code as Ricohjpn & out of a 100 spindle I've had bo problems yet and I'm down to the last 20 -odd disc . Some of my burns on these disc are months old and no deteriation yet. Which is a good sign. They burn well and playback well so far too. But being a Safety conscious kinda guy I often make safety Backups of my burns that I've done on other than Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media onto some nice shiny Taiyo Yudens just in case ! I have also noticed that OFFICDEPOT's Own Media ( 16X DVD+R) may Be either Ritek or Ricojpn) My last spindle of 100 recently bought were the Ricoh's I have'nt gotten to either batch of my OD media yet Ritek or Ricoh but I hope the Ricohs are atleast as good as their 4x disc. Well that's all for now Ciao! Yall !

Ripper - well everyones entitled to use what they like , want , or can afford media wise ! I was just putting out the experience limited though it is I had with the RicohJpn media ! everyones computer/ burners setup may differ from yours or mine so what works for you or me might not work for them & vice versa ! I also stated that my preferrence was taiyo yudens , verbatims , and Maxell MIJ's given the choice ! and most of my Dvd Media horde consist of those brands ! That being said I've used Ritek MEDIA - either marketed under the Maxell Brand or as Officedepot Branded media and had no Problems with either ! Are they in the same league with taiyo Yuden or verbatim ? I will concede that no they are'nt but they are miles above CMc Crap - Same with Ricohjpn media ! They are a viable second choice for many ! either do to limited finances or the only non CMC brand on sale the week your supply runs out ! Cost Od media often sells @ .20 cents ea. Sony/taiyo yudens on sale are often .30cents each. or more ! The Maxell Mij's are where & when you fined them ? Would I put something valuable on Ritek or RicohJpn media ? deffinitly ! But I would make a Taiyo yuden or verbatim safety copy just in case ! So I suppose I play both sides of the street on this one & I see your point as well ! Good luck Ripper & happy Burning!
