Recently in my office, the higher-ups ordered in several 50-packs of Memorex DVD+R discs. In my curiosity, I ran an ID check and they code out as Richojpn. The package shows MIT. Am I crazy or what? Have the junk gods thrown a curve? Has Memorex backed away from CMC?
Doesn't Richojpn stand for Richo Japan? Kinda strange they would be MIT and not MIJ. Even stranger that they are Memorex that are not CMC. What speed are the DVDs?
Some Memocrap disks do code out to be something a little better, in this case, RicohMIJ.
I'd trust the disk ID not the pakage IDas for MIT not MIJ.
I should imagine they code as RICOHJPNR01, RICOHJPNR00, RICOHJPNR03.
I know that Memorex 2-3 yrs ago coded out to RICOHJPN which is made in Taiwan! Second class disks. I have plenty of those and still working and able to re rip the DVD! Those Memorex are good. The CMC MAGs suck. So, RCM999... your office did good in getting those type of Memorex.
I would still stick to the MIJ rule! Verbatim is the only Taiwan/Singapore disks that I would intentionally buy now. Everything else I use is Taiyo Yuden!
i'm guessing you mean they're not vanilla TY. but the discs are TY all the same, and look/feel nicer with the Verbatim top. no irritating smudges like you get on the shiny vanilla TY
