Can anyone answer me this. I am using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter and I would like to make copys of all my videos to a hard drive. must I make the dvd first (from orginal to decrypted copy) than copy to hard drive? or can I somehow go right to the hard drive. Thanks for any help.

I am really bad at telling you 'technically' how to do it. But, when you use DVD Shrink you normally (or at least the way people here helped me set it up) put the files on your hard drive first then burn from your hard drive to a disc. So, it's already on your HD.

DVD Decrypter also puts the files on your HD first.

OK I see that after I use DVD Shrink it goes to the hard drive but I cant seem to get any of those files to play on the computer. Do they have to be decrypted? Not sure how it works.

after you have ripped the dvd to the harddrive you need to use a progarm like Nero show time or powerdvd to watch the video files.

on Nero showtime palyer there is a button called select source and you click that after that a menu opens and in that menu you select play from folder. then from there a box will open were you select the folder that the files are in and click it then it should play .

You can probably find a free dvd player from here:
http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html or
http://www.downloads.com

You can get free trial of PowerDVD here:
http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/download/download.html
or free trial of WinDVD here:
http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/WinDVD_Profile.jsp

Then it's the same process Redice suggested you do with Nero Showtime.
Good luck!

For what reason would you want to store your DVDs on your HDD? At 4.7 GB/movie, just 100 movies would require a 470GB HDD! If you have them on DVDs they take up no space and can be ripped quite quickly for your needs. JM2Cs
