I am a frequent user of DVD Shrink, dvdxcopy, CloneDVD, dvd decryptor and AnyDVD to back up my dvd collection. But it seems that lately I come across more and more discs that wont copy, for various reasons. I am assuming this is caused by new or just different encoding by the manufacturers. Are there any other apps or ways to copy these movies that anyone could recommend?

Make sure your AnyDVD is updated regularly to keep up with new encryptions. There is also DVDFab Decrypter which works much like DVD Decrypter does in File mode, but the latest version allows you to rip the entire disc or just the main movie.

AnyDVD , DVD Shrink, and autoburn with Nero has never failed me. I do leave AnyDVD shut off until I run into:

Illegal navigation error
Crc error
Or some other screwy things that the newer encryptions give.

When I run into trouble, then I enable AnyDVD and problem solved.

Another note,if backing up entire disc-some titles gave the famous kid in green shorts issue in which that folder "unreferenced materials" needs set as a still image through DVD Shrink.

Some people do have trouble when running AnyDVD when it isn't necessary.

Here's some titles with problematic encryption and they are all rippable

Agree. I'm with you buddy, don't worry I'm here, hehe. I'm curious to know what method he (this super expert) used to rip and backup his movies?

Hmmm... let see, if it's not RipIt4Me (DVD Decrypter + FixVTS), DVDFAB Decrypter or AnyDVD, then it must be that useless 1Click DVD Copy.

That is why it's all kept a secret in PM's, the advice would be to laughable on the open forum.

DVD Shrink and Auto-burn with nero:

You'll need Nero burning rom.

Fantastic combo, but throw in AnyDVD in the background to bust those newer encryptions.

Very easy, you need a couple settings in DVD Shrink for this:

1) Open up dvd shrink/edit/preferences/ File-I/O/ Make sure the second box from bottom is ticked- Enable burn with nero/ OK......

2) After doing your next backup, click the Backup tab. Then you'll need to set the Select Backup target for your burner-the model # will appear,as well as a checkmark for burn with Nero. Here's a pic,and the squiggly red circle is how mine's set for autoburning:

Single drive- Insert original, rip to harddrive, and disc spits out. Insert blank and she'll automatically burn.

Dual drives- Even sweeter. Insert original in dvd-rom or DVD-RW drive, insert blank in DVD-RW drive.4-5 clicks and process starts and no waiting around to insert the blank. You can even set it for auto shutdown after the burn in case you want to leave.

Once you get those settings correct, you shouldn't have to worry about re-setting them.

I saw all his postings yesterday-10/8/6,and the only 1 with any info was about Nero xpress.

Anydvd and DVD Shrink will backup virtually all dvds, unless it's a bum disc.I'm no expert, but that combo is about as simple as you can get.
