I have managed to copy just about every DVD I've tried except for this one ("Noel"). The problem is that my system won't even recognize that there is a disc in the drive! (Liteon burner, Windows XP SP1) It plays without a problem in my Memorex dvd recorder. Not having any problems opening other commercial DVDs on my system.

The DVD is "Noel": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383534/

The drive is a LiteOn SOHW-1693S.

When I run the firmware updater, it says KS0B.

I have had this problem a few times, I could't even watch the movie on either of my two dvd burners. So I then tried a dvd-rom drive and it worked fine. Then I copied the dvd to my hard drive from the dvd-rom using AnyDVD and opening it with dvdshrink then burning on the dvd-burner.
