I am trying to record some dvds. And the program I am using is Platnum. I think I have it figured out but I don't know about the TDF or what it even means. I would appreciate the help or knowlege, for that matter.

Thanks,

you are using the old DVDXCopy..... that program hasn't been updated in over 2-3 yrs now... it will have problems with the newer movies unless you use AnyDVD running in the background. The TDF is something I never used with this program and I couldn't even fine TDFs out there to follow their settings. To me there are better free software out there that does a better job than XCopy! Try this one, RipIt4Me. It's updated and does a great job with all the DVDs out there. Download the programs and follow the guide:

What is a TDF File?
A technology originally developed by 321 Studios, makers of the original DVD X Copy Line of software, TDF stands for ?Title Definition Format?. TDF files contain setup instructions that tell DVD X Platinum how back up a DVD movie. TDF files for DVD X Platinum are intended to be used only to fix incorrect titleset selections made by DVD X Platinum and DVD authoring problems inherent in some DVD movies
You can also find more info on this by my buddy ireland on the Xcopy forum.

But as IHoe has stated this is an old program and really not good with newer protected DVD's. You would be better off looking into the freebies or try the trial of AnyDVD and CloneDVD.
