I have multiple DVD players in my house. I have found that there is one DVD player that when I put in a backup of a movie it will play the back up for about the first 15 to 20 minutes and then the movie will freeze up and the only option is to eject the movie.

Is there a reason behind this and if so can this be remedied when making backups?

First only use top name DVD's. Second make sure not to burn your DVD's fast. I burn mine at 4x. don't burn your DVD's to the edge. I believe I have mine set at 4340. Make sure you burn with quality burner software like Nero or ImgBurn. Easy CD/DVD is a poor burning software to use. Last but not least make sure that your disk and drives are clean.

That player may not like the type of disc you are using. What type are they?

the ones I have tried I don't have any more blanks of to get the information for. I did post the info a few months ago because I was having trouble burning the backup and was told that I couldn't get a better piece of media.

I hanven't tried any of new stuff I have yet in that specific DVD player but I know it works, here is the new stuff I have. I picked it up to try it what do you think?

I would have to guess this is ur biggest problem as other members will agree with me. Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00

Try better media like Verbatims(Made in Taiwan), or Any media Made in Japan

This should fix the problem

the problem has popped up with each manufacturer so far that I have used. It just may be that this particular dvd player may just not like blank dvd media.

make sure it isn't the dvd player itself. Few months ago a friend was watching a movie and he told me it was skipping a lot. At first i got angry cuz I thought my TY media was wrong but after opening up the player i found out that the disc was hitting the lens. Tried different dics and they would also hit the lens.

Long story short... the player works fine now.

check your DVD players owners manual. make sure you are using the right type of disk, +R, -R. i know all of my players will not read a +R disc.

Maybe try booktyping your media. If you do not have a -R or +R/-R burner. You can booktype a +R media to read like -R media. There are a few threads on how to do this in Ad.

it is just that one dvd player all the others seem to either play the backups all the way through or not at all (that thing about it not working in all players).

If I paid attention when the backups are burned it already does booktyping. the dvd player is only a few months old and has had no problem with store bought DVD's it just has the problem with the backups. I know it is suppose to be able to read blank media at least for music but I don't know about dvd's.

I normally burn using Nero.

Try different Discs like verbatium or tys. Before you buy the new discs check your owner 's manual it will tell you what types of dvds it reads +or-.

Then burn your back-ups at 4x
and in Nero or Shrink set the writable area to 4300.
