I have been buring DVDs for about 6 months with never a problem. I bought a 50 pack of hp dvd+r's! The first one I recieved a burn failure, the secone burned no problem, and the third one wouldn't recognize and I got the bad blue screen. I rebooted my computer and burned 6 movies with no problem! Last night I tried to copy a dics I iused shrink and it recieved a burn failure tiwce, I tried using Nero to just copy the dvd and recievd a burn failure and then this morning I tried dvd fab and it would burn! It is my drive of the discs. I have always used sony before and never had a problem!

It is the media more then likly.

If the Sony worked with no problem then why stop using them?

If you find DVD media that work with your burrner and your stand alone player then stick with it.

I would trash the HP media and go back to the Sony media. I would also check the HP media and the Sony media and make sure they are listed as 1st class media with the guide that i have linked below.

Below are 3 steps you can take to find out what class of media you have. You need to know the manufatures ID# then go to the link I provide and find the media in the list. If it is not in 1st class media then they are crap.

Put in a blank media disc and follow 1 of the 3 diffrent ways below to find out what the manufature ID# is on the media.
