The code was for a 6230 and should of worked, confirm the following
Mobile was bought in the UK
Locked to the Orange network
IMEI 356644001109789
If all is correct try this code
#pw+116434532426047+5#
1. Insert a non accepted sim, most times it will show "Phone Restricted"
2. Press the UNDO option
3. You should see a box that says enter restriction code.
4. Enter the code given and then press (OK)

nope i tried that code with and without the sim card in i am still getting code error. the guy at work i am suppose to exchanging the nokia 6230i with, he showed me that it worked on vodaphone, but when i tried both my orange card in it, and my o2 card in it, neither worked.

So the mobile only works on the Vodafone network, yes?
The codes given are for the Orange network that is why they are not working.
Now, are you certain that only a Vodafone sim works in the phone?
If so this is your code

i am certain, i saw him put his vodaphone card in there and use it, the thing is, the phone boots up with the orange logo

The mobile is hardlocked to the original network, like I said above take the mobile to a shop to have it unlocked with hardware.
