what happens is none of my folders open e.g. if i click my computer nothing happens. this doesnt always occur, but only occurs after say 2-3 hrs of my computer being on. this problem did not used to occur before and has only statrted now. i cant do a system restore since i have no preivous backup points for some reason, also which i dont know

secondary problem; how do i disable the logon screen so when i turn my computer on i dont have to go on to the log screen

To disable the welcome screen, go to Start/Run and type control userpasswords2 then uncheck the box that says Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

If you have TweakUI for XP http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp then you can go to Logon/Autologon and turn on Log on automatically at system startup. Type your username and password and click ok.
