When I am trying to back up the Da vinci code (full disk) I get the following error,

?DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Invalid DVD navigation structure?

When I try to back up ?movie only? shrink will not apply any compression to the film thus making it impossible to put on one disk.

I really want to back up the full disk as the film has some English sub titles.

I am running Any dvd in the back ground.

Thanks in advance for any help

Just up-dated Any DVD today. Also, I had ripped the whole disk to my HD with Any DVD and I had read that you could shrink it from there but when I use shrink to try and find the file's I can't see them in the file that i saved them in?????

Have you browsed to the folder where you saved them on your HD and made sure they are there? If so are they playable? Did you rip just the movie...no extras? Close shrink, re start it then try and see if you see them. Or have you tried just Shrinking it with AnyDVD running? sorry if these sound like dumb questions...just ruling things out.

I generally don't rip on the fly, i copy to the HD first then i shrink it. Also, shrink doesn't show you the files, just need to choose the folder you put them in and click ok...I just keep a "temp" folder set up for movies I'm ripping and go from there

Yes I can see them in the folder, 7.35gb of files. Tried closing shrink and re-opening but still the same.
Ripped the whole disk and it plays fine with Windvd.

Odd, I hope somebody out there in AD land has a better idea. I've just tried my shrink with a few other films I have stored and it works fine. Do you have anything stored on you HD that you could try to open...maybe your copy of shrink has become unstable for some reason...?

I do have some other file that I could check, I will give it a go. On a similer note, can you back up a copy of a film (only) and keep any sub titles that may be there, Kill Bill 2 for example?

There is a similar thread in "DVD Shrink Forum" you may want to look at. My guess is there'll be an update for AnyDVD soon. Hope you get it straightend out, I still have about a month to wait for this problem! Cheers!

bwilso,

Sounds like you used the ripper that comes with AnyDVD to rip the files to your HDD, if so you should have a VIDEO_TS folder on your HDD containing the video files (shrink needs to see this folder in order to open the files). Run shrink and click on the Open Files tab at the top, then browse to where the VIDEO_TS folder is located, highlight the folder and click ok/open. Shrink will import the files then you can proceed as you normally would using shrink.

If you're still not having any luck, try the DVDFab decrypter\VobBlanker\DVD shrink trio.

DVDFab
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

VobBlanker
http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2110_exe.zip

Rip to your HDD using DVDFab, process the video files created by DVDFab thru VobBlanker, then open the files created by VobBlanker using shrink and proceed as you normally would with the backup process.

NOTE: when using DVDFab and VobBlanker, AnyDVD should be disabled since they can conflict with eachother.

If you need to re-download a copy of shrink, you can get it here;

Use Anydvd and believe

@bwilso
The kill bills have 2 sets of english subtitles, and possibly other lanuages as well. Shrink will find all of these.
The smaller english set contains the subtitles for the non english dialogue only. The larger set has subtitles for whole movie. Use Shrink reauthor mode to choose your desired set, then rip/reauthor.
In either case, your set top player or comuter software will have to "enable subtitles", when playing the movie.

If a new form of protection is suspected send the .IFO files to Slysoft so that AnyDVD can be updated. See instructions from another forum here;
