Xbox needs service!?!?

When I start up my xbox it states.. "your xbox needs service" then to call M$. I had my xbox softmodded and then I took off the softmod. It was working fine that whole time then I unplugged my xbox and moved it to a different room in my house and now it shows that screen.. "your xbox needs service." How do I fix this? It won't load the dashboard or anything. Is the only way to fix this by hot swapping? If I call M$, will they help me b/c I had my xbox softmodded? How much does it cost to get my xbox fixed?
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

your xbox might have a virus called airsoft. it is very common in softmodded xbox. your best chance is to call ms and get costemer soppurt on the phone. if you cant fix it your box is probelly screwed. but i am sure ms will help you.

airsoft?? Can you tell me more about this airsoft virus or a link where I can read about it. I have never heard of this. Also, will customer support help even if my xbox was softmodded or doesn't that even matter?

before you do anything, check if you have an error code number in the corner of the screen. (It is anywhere from 1 to 21)

I don't see any error code number on the screen. When and where does it appear on the screen. I get the "your xbox needs service" screen and nothing appears then... How long till an error code number appears in the corner? Or does the error code appear before this screen?

It has diffrent languages saying xbox needs service....at the top left corner it says a number containing the error in which u got...look again

No, it can't read anything. I have put in various games and dvds and it can't read any of them. It just displays the screen "your xbox needs service."

I had a softmodded xbox then I took off the softmod. It was working fine this whole time. Then I unplugged the xbox for awhile and moved it to a different room and got this. So the softmod shouldn't be on anymore. But I'm sure their are still traces of it on my hard drive.

no, i haven't done a hotswap. I wanted to make that a last resort. So now that I have to do a hotswap how do I get the necessary files to fix the xbox and how do I know what files I need to fix this?
