FWIW, I was able to use dvdfab decrypter and DVD Shrink to backup this movie. I was expecting a lot of problems given I dont keep up with the new releases and new software programs out there but, it was not a problem.

anydvd and shrink failed for me...fab and shrink are always next in line in my process and they did work on this backup without any problems.

Hope this helps someone

I think it's strange that the AnyDVD and Shrink combo didn't work. It worked fine for me. But, I guess we're all different.

I swear I searched for a thread on this movie before I made yet another one and didnt see the one 10 or so threads down. I must be blind. Anyway, AnyDVD and shrink did fail for me for some reason. I dont know why but anyway.

I caught up on some reading on the forum while I was waiting for Over The Hedge to backup and I see others that have had some of the same issues as I have on other backups. 9 times out of 10, AnyDVD and shrink will work for me on most anything. I cant recall having to DL any other software in the last 6 months or more...it ALWAYS works..or almost always. I had almost forgot how to use dvdfab its been so long since I have had a problem.

I am guessing that since some people have some problems on some dvds and some dont when using the same programs is that it has to do with the different burners we all use and the systems we use them on.

I read several threads on movies I backed up with no issues, Click was one I noticed gave some fits, gave me no problems. Its just odd as hell that the some people can use one program or the other to backup their dvds and the very next person has issues using the same thing.

Some operator error Im sure is the case sometimes but, the difference in burners and firmware has to be the cause of the majority of all problems........i guess!!! : )

Anyway, sorry to start another thread on this movie. I did look and I must have lost my vision for a moment!

@laz305
Shrink can't handle this one by it lonesome.
So you can rip it first to your hard drive w/ DVDFab Decrypter (free) like ncbucfan did then open in Re-Author mode in Shrink.

Or use the movie only option in RipIt4Me (all free)

Or use the Franster did - with AnyDVD running in the background w/ Shrink. Not free but has a 21 day trial.

@CincyRob,
CloneDVD/AnyDVD handled this movie without any problem. Give me your Street Address Rob and I'll send you a stick on mylar applique with the Boston Red Sox Logo on it, will dramatically improve your scores, as well as increase the the virillity of the owner, increase the size of your you know what, fill your wife and kids with undying love towards the owner of the said burner, and finally reward you with unimaginable good luck and great fortune.

But seriously, I still don't put a lot of stock in the numbers game, it is more important how the disk combo plays in the DVD stand alone players.

Oh I'm still hanging around a bit. Yep CloneDVD and AnyDVD won't give you any problems. I used that combo on this one.

Like blivetNC said those numbers mean squat. Your scores are just as good as mine and no playback issues.

@blivetNC
Anything for us gals on the great fortune bit :0) (I'll pass on the rest but the fortune - lol)

i know the scores are just that. i can tell the difference allready in my burns with the new drive. even though i had a couple bad scores the disc play great in all 3 of my standalones and my sons PS2... as far as good fortune form the mylar redsox, the only fortune there would be another 100 years of second place...lmao....

@blivetNC...just look at the name there REDSOX....what comes first?????????

Both "The Breakup and Over The Hedge" has Macrovision's RipGuard protections. But as usual, DVDFAB Decrypter 3.0.2.5 to rip into hard drive (15 minutes only) and I have VobBlanker processed (5 minutes only) and blank out all FBI Warnings, all Trailers, plus some Extras. Transcoded with Nero Recode 2 and finally burned with Nero Burning Rom. Backup came out perfectly.

By the way, RipIt4Me 1.5.2.0 can handle this flawlessly as well. Best of luck to all and happy burning.

You can actually Play/Preview any VTS or Cells and see what it is/has, if you don't like it (don't want it), then simply have VobBlanker blank it out. I always have VobBlanker take out all FBI Warnings, Trailers, some Extras (I only keep the one I want) and the preview logo (if I can). This will definitely give you more quality in the end.

Best of luck, happy ripping and burning.

hey alkohol whenever i try to block some of those things out with VobBlanker, and then go to burn with Nero, Nero tells me that it is unable to find somethings and it will not let me burn. what am i doing wrong? that is why i just import main movie from dvd, and it works just fine. i would however like to be able to do the menus, but like i said whenever i block out the trailer, extras, and FBI warnings it will not let me burn.

Ok what happened when you used AnyDVD and CloneDVD - that's about the easiest one to handle this movie.
Using 6.0.8.0 or 6.0.8.2 on AnyDVD and 2.9.0.1 for CloneDVD?

@chayne04

Hmmm... are u blocking, deleting or "blanking"? Now back to the subject, all of my backups are flawless after processing and blanking through VobBlanker. I've never had any problems with Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express or Nero Recode. Hhmmmm... it's just odd that you can't burn your VIDEO_TS file that's all. Can you give a brief explanation of what you did?

<<< To blank out any VTS, Cell, FBI Warnings, Trailers/Features, Extras, etc. >>>
**double click on the VTS (or any VTS) under "TitleSet"
**click on Ini Size
**click on any/the PGC # that has the Ini Size & End Size
**now BLANK it out then OK or Apply then EXIT out.

<<< To blank out a (any) PGC # >>>
**click on the VTS under "TitleSet" that you want to blank
**click on the PGC # Entry under "PGCs in Selected TitleSet"
**then Blank it out

<> when you're all done and ready, simply click PROCESS!!

Hope this helps you a little. Again, the more you use and mess around with, the more experiences you'll acquire in the end. Good luck.

binkie7,
You suggested this:

I have never used DVD Fab and just backed up my movie with it, but I am unsure of how to work re-author mode in DVD shirnk. Could you give me a step by step walkthrough of how to do this?

Hi soccerman
Here's a great interactive guide for re-author mode in Shrink. It's for version 3.1 but is fine for the last version 3.2.

Post back if you need more help.
