I've heard people with problems backing this up,but my question is:

is it normal that the game has long loading times and seems like it's constantly searching the disc? Is it straining the laser?
Don't get me wrong,the game plays fine.
I've burnt it at 8x on verb DVD+R 16x at 8x.

No. Its playing & loading fine for me on RITEK G05 - as always.

and the game loads and plats fine too,it's just that the ps2 seems to be 'working' a lot...

I also have this... I think it is normal for Rockstar games though as there is just so much going on.
