Hi,

I have recently moved house, needed broadband so bought adsl dlink modem the internet works fine on pc but when i go to connect modem to ps2 with my ethernet cable,( i have set-up network settings correctly as it says my connection is fine) I get to the connecting to network screen it connects then goes to the verifying DNAS message then always cuts out and displays an error message saying no response from DNS server check network configration or words to that effect.

I have tried 2 different games, so I know that is not the problem I have turned off the modem for 5 mins then back on still no good, i have turned modem off booted up ps2 then turned modem on still nothing. Phoned up Pro Evolution Soccer 5 network gaming helpline and they said phone my modem manufacture telling them "create a DMZ outside of DHCP range" D-link replied that means nothing they need to know what ports need opening. I re-phoned PES5 and told them the problem they said tell d-link to open all ports for your ps2 only. I told d-link this they said you only have an adsl modem so there are no ports to open as you dont have a router.

Hopefully that all makes sense to someoone more qualified than me,

anyone help?

Maybe my isp can help? My work run adsl through my phoneline via their servers maybe they can open the port for me to play ps2 online?

when you say "i have set-up network settings correctly as it says my connection is fine" is that through the setup disc?

I'm guessing you're in EU and users in that region need a central station account (I think that's what it's called) are you able to connect to central station?

Another thing could be that the game servers of the games you're trying to play are no longer available or are down.

One thing you could try (It might make a difference as it has helped other people in the past) reset the modem, then connect to ps2 and setup the network settings. (guessing that you just disconnected the ethernet cable from the pc and plugged it into the ps2 and setup network settings without power cycling the modem)

NTSC DNAS threads.
