has anyone had problems with scarface back ups for the PS2
it plays ok on my PS2 with a mod chip but com3es up with "not a valid PS2 disc" on my son slimline when he uses Swapmagic
if it needs a patch, does anyone know where i can get it

For Swap Magic you need ZONELOADER look at the stickies for where to get it.
When youve got zoneloader scarface works fine.

Try using forum search in future, there's loads of topics on this game, and the Swap Magic problem was solved ages ago.

i got back up scarface by burn speed x2 and use swapmagic v2.0 that no problem to play that scarface game (no crash/freeze)
swapmagic v3.6 wouldnt play scarface.

i've seen so many threads on burning & playing scarface... Anyway here it goes again...
Swap Magic Users
If you have Swap Magic 2.0 - just burn and play - no rebuilding or zoneloader needed!
If you have Swap Magic 3.6 - You need to download and burn to dvd a program called 'Zoneloader'. If you do a search on this site you will find PLENTY of links to download zoneloader... Once both DVDs are burnt, you put in Swap Magic first, and then when it asks you to load a program you then put in Zoneloader, and then the scarface backup when prompted...

Also you can edit the CNF file with notepad, rebuild the game and you don't have to use Zoneloader to load it with swap magic 3.6. I know there are at least a couple threads on that here.

how is that?how do you edit the CNF file and every1 else says that you have 2 use zoneloader with swapmagic 3.6!

the cnf edit is only for the hdd i think...from the threads i have read not that many were successful, you guys r better off with zoneloader

Ahh, but as for someone like me, I've never touched a CNF file. And the Zoneloader booting DVD and CD are good, because a variety of games actually benefit from using the Zoneloader boot; many games in which wouldn't have worked for me without it. Sure, you can learn to modify the file, as mentioned above, but the simplicity of throwing an ISO on a disc, and watching it play, is good enough for me. :D

The edit is so simple though. You just open the CNF file with notepad and put ;1 at the end of the SLUS number. That's it and then rebuild the game of course. Zone Loader works too, but at least for me the less swapping I have to do the better.

i have just burned zoneloader to a DVD-R and it works with swapmagic 3.6 now i can play my scarface YEHHH!!!!!

It does sound simple, agreed. But can you tell me what exactly this does? This number that you add the "1" on. Like, when the disc is read, what is different exactly?
