Slimline ps2 Disc Read Error(DRE)

Not to long ago I got the disc read error problem on my ps2 v12 slimline. I can play the PS2 blue disc games (like Tekken Tag Tourn.)and Cd based games like the PSOne games but i can't play the silver PS2 discs or games i burnt for my PS2. I've been searching how to fix the v12 and have only seen how to fix the fat PS2s. I got the Crystal Chip modchip 1.1 for my PS2. I've cleaned the lens with alcohol but I get the same problem. Any suggestions?

Sadly, I'm having the same problem. I have not yet found a solution. This is my second slim PS2(the first was ruined in an attempt to clean the lense) and they both suffered the same fate. I've also had a "fat" PS2 with the same problem. I don't think that PS2's generally last longer than a couple of years. Sadly, I think the only solution is to get a new one. Sorry :(
