I'm using an FTP program called ALFTP. I noticed that my windows firewall is blocking my FTP connection. Whenever I turn it off it seems to connect but with it on, it won't give me a connection. The program is added to my exception list. I'm guessing that I have to add port: 21 to my list. I did that, but I"m still not getting a connection. I named it
name: FTP
port: 21

help!

what FTP program do you use? or recommend? I use AlFTP because I use ALzip it's one of those bundle programs from their website. The only solution I have right now is to turn my windows firewall off and it works, but I want to keep it on while performing FTP stuff. :S

I use SmartFTP client and it works fine on my XP Pro/XP Media center OSes. And its free :)

Doesnt expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected and therefore mean youre expecting the expected which was the unexpected until you expected it?

Just download and install ZoneAlarm,it will give you option of free or pro, then once done any program that connects to net, zone will send you a popup to allow/disallow all your probs solved,so far i've never had a prob, even norton firewall gave no grief besides zone is a two way firewall and windows is not

I wouldnt use it because its not made by an actual security company.

i installed the security suite but it's lagging my computer like crazy. Is it suppose to be doing this? I use to have Symantec Anti Virus Corporate Edition but I got rid of that because the Zone Alarm I installed said it came with an anti virus and spyware program.
