For some movies i have been getting the cylic redundancy check error and one other error i cant remember and i have tried to use DVD Decrypter and that didn't work either it wasn't able to decrypt a certain file it just kept on retrying. i followed the instructions from some thread i found in here to set up DVD Decrypter the proper way and it still didn't work. I also tries backing up the files with Nero, that worked but when i go to try to burn them it says it can't find the proper file. so i'm all out of ideas any help would be great. thx
check out the "guides" at the tab at the top of the page. freeware options include dvdfabdecrypter -> VobBlanker -> shrink, and ripit4me. see below for download and guide urls.
Remembering the exact error is important and will help us analyze your problem.

This error however, generally means that you have a disc that has a problem. Scratched, dirty, smudged, etc. that the lazer cannot penetrate to pull the data from. Try cleaning the disc real well and see if you can re-rip it. If not, you may have to exchange the disc.
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
failed to read file x:\ data error cyclic redundancy Data error
Just to add to what has already been stated, this may help with the CRC error or any other errors you may of gotten........
Possible causes: The disk is either badly scratched, diry/smudged in areas where info can't be read correctly, a bad press (digitally faulty), or copy protection shrink can't handle because of its discontinued support/advancement.
If the disk appears dirty/smudged in areas, clean it and retry the process.
If it's copy protection that's causing shrink to spit out the error/s... then try any one of these options:
1) DVDfab decrypter, it's a very good and supported free whole movie ripper/decrypter. Use it to rip the video files to your HDD, open the files ripped using shrink and proceed as you normally would.
2) Ripit4me, it takes the ripping/transcoding/and burning process and makes it a one click task. You'll need DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, and FixVTS to make it all work.
3) Download and install the trial version of AnyDVD. Once installed, run DVD dhrink as you normally would to produce a backup, AnyDVD runs in the backround to crack the copy protection on the disk.
Method I had this same problem with the cyclic redundancy check error on the movie Lucky Number Slevin. I first tried shrink and that popped up the error. When I used DVDFab Decrypter then tried to use shrink and still got the error I thought I'd look for smudges or bad scratches. Sure enough there was a huge smudgey fingerprint, after restarting my computer and wiping the disc it burned through just fine.
