Hi everyone !
My problem is as follows:
The audio to my video, which, I converted from DivX to DVD before checking, is out of sync:
The sound comes first, then the lips...
At the beginning it`s about 1/2 - 1 second and at the end of the film it`s about double.
Is there a simple way to correct this fault without having to get too technical and read lots of manuals?
Thanx

Unfortunately no. If it was off the same amount, start to finish, maybe.

I would use a different encoder. I have had similar problems with encoders. For DivX to dvd I like cucusofts encoder then author the dvd with IFOEdit. You could also try to Demux and remux the audio and video. If it is timestamped it will be corrected. If not and the sync problem is the same delay throughout the file many muxers have the option to offset the audio and video to correct it. I would recommend sampling a small part of the file and testing on it until you find the right offset. How big is the offset, and is it consistant?

It's a problem that can occur with AVI, mpg files. Basically the "frames per second" rate in these files isn't always the same as the fps rate used to record DVD's, so converting formats screws up the audio/video sync. There might also be a PAL to NTSC or vice versa issue.

The way I got round it (sort of) was to put the converted file into Cool Edit Pro, or some other program which has the audio and video on separate tracks, and take out about 0.02sec from the audio every minute (during a silence) which brings things back in line enough so you can't tell.

Very time-consuming.
