Ok so I downloaded some games and tried to burn them to DVDs and to my surprise they don't work. So I went and put those games in the HD to test them and they work. Today I went and got me a new DVD burner to see if mmaybe that was the problem, the games burns fine but when I put it in the PS2 it either hangs in the menu reading the disc or gives me a "cannot read disc" error. It plays my other backups fine so I don't know if its the PS2 or the DVD. I use a Liteon burner and Sony DVD-Rs burning at a 4x speed. So is my PS2 laser going or do I need to clean it, any help would be appreciated.
Ok, so I cleaned the laser and bought new Sony DVD-Rs. And the same problem still happens, this time it shows the PS2 logo and it goes back to the browser menu. If it doesn't go back to the browser menu it just stays in a black screen. It plays all my other DVD-Rs fine except new ones. So should I calibrate the laser or should I try something else you pros know about. It's getting annoying and expensive.
it can't me me burning them the wrong way bacause I haven't done anything different than I did with the past games. But since I don't want to keep buying dvds I'll just double check one of the guides posted.
ace1uk you know alot about riteks then how come when I burn F1 2006 onto a ritek disc after playing the game for like 6 weeks it starts to lag and is slowly becomes unplayable this has happend to me twice the discs are not scratched not a single scratch but it never happends to any of my other games like Toca rcae driver 3 or any other racing games?
Do you know why its as if after time the data erases or curropts or something
That's the thing I have like 15 games in Sony DVDs, those work perfect even right now I have no problem with them. But any game that I get new or even a copy of one of my Sony DVD-Rs wont work. I got a "LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S". The games that I am trying to burn are in a HD and they work fine. One last thing something when I put in one of the new games it says "DVD Video" in the browser instead of "Playstation 2 Game" like it would normally say. Or it gives me the red screen telling me to insert a Playstation 2 game.
I had the same problem with news games, I could boot from the HDD but not the back-up DVDs. At first I thought it was the new pack of Sony DVD-R I opened this morning because all the back-ups from the old pack I just finished worked perfectly. Then it popped into my head to try updating the firmware on the mod chip. I updated the firmware on my Matrix Inifinty to 1.91(it just came out last week) and the problem went away.
Well I have a DMS4 PRO SE and I have version 0.41,which is the only one I know how to use. But after buying a new burner and new media, the problem still continued,so I decided to try my luck in calibrating the laser and to my surprised the problem is gone. After so many new dvds wasted and to all the help from this forum I am free of this curse.
