In order of best to worst, although they're all pretty good
Using your own ISP's server will do you for now, but you'll soon get fed up of Blueyonder's 4 day retention, and pretty poor completion rates.

Check out http://www.giganews.com/?c=gn317275 for really cheap, fast UseNet service. 90 Day binary retention, 10 servers allowed, and almost always 100% completion rates.
I'm on Unlimited Platinum service & it's the best £15 I spend a month!

Retention = How long the files remain on your Usenet provider's server
Blueyonder's retention is only 4 days, so you need to grab stuff quick, but with GigaNews it's 90 days & rising, so you can find stuff you may of missed.

I use NewsLeecher myself, I much prefer it's interface & search protocols. The speed you get is mainly determined by your own connection, but is influenced by your provider's potential speed. I get speeds of 1Mb/s - 1.5Mb/s with GigaNews & a 10Mb blueyonder connection & can d/l a full game or movie in about 30mins - 1hr, sometimes quicker depending on the time of day.

GigaNews is paid monthly in advance, so you can cancel at any time you like. Plus, there is a 3 day free trial period with a 1Gb limit, so you can see what sort of speed etc.. you're going to get. If you like it, then you can upgrade to the full service.
Use the link I provided above, as its got my referal ID on it ;)
