video capture can anyone tell what I need?

Hi
I can only connect my camcorder to my computer via yellow and white cables and a video card
What do I need to backup the entire camcorder home video about 45mins to my hard drive and make a either a VCD,SVCD,or dvd?
I have shink and Nero installed on my computer
I have looked at the guides but I'm not familiar with the terminolgy and I am totally confused.
any help or suggestions?
