This is my very first post in the afterdawn forums, thus, I'm a newbie - be gentle!
Seriously now, I have this weird problem on Windows XP, and I really wanted someone to help me out - I've already searched through dozens, if not hundreds, of threads (not only on afterdawn!) and just couldn't find an answer to this damned problem; hope you experts can help me...
Anyway, my problem is that lately, some Windows' dialog boxes that are supposed to pop up... just don't! I began noticing it when my add/remove programs didn't show up anymore, but, hey, I figured another way of doing it (through other software resources).
But last night this thing striked another system utility - the Internet connections' dialog box! I can't acess the Windows XP firewall settings, which is really annoying!
I don't recall having done anything wrong, so I have no idea of what's going on with this. I smell something bad about this issue - I just hope I'm no gonna have to install the OS again... anywho, hope you can give some hints about this.
When it happens press Ctrl+Alt+Del and see if anything is taking up alot of CPU time or RAM and if it is just kill that process. Ive noticed Windows sticking at times something else in the background has failed to close properly.
