I asked a friend of mine to install a modchip for me when he visited China. It works great being a media centre but I only recently discovered that it could not boot PS1 games. It booted from the memory card exploit disc with no problems, and I installed the exploit, but I can't use it as it doesn't boot the required PS1 game disc. I've been told the chip is a Messiah 1.33b. Obviously I can't send it back, as it was installed in China!
Is this a fault with the modchip itself, or is it poor workmanship? If it's a fault with the modchip then fair enough, I can't do anything about it; if it is MEANT to boot PS1 games, then I'll open it up to check everything's soldered correctly.
I've managed to boot PSX originals by turning off the modchip, which is sufficient. I've tried double-tap, as well as hold-until-eject-light-turns-on, which neither works. I doubt it's the soldering job, I checked it and it's excellent.
If it reads well ps2 games, don´t see where´s the problem.
Did you try more than one game?
Don´t know what is SCE! sony computer entertainment,I presume!
Try hold the circle button, during the time you press reset button, until the message "sony computer entertainment" shows up. (this is for Matrix, but perhaps work on it).
Are you shure the modchip is a Messiah?
I had a Messiah a couple years ago, and worked by the way I said you.
So the problem is because it´s a clone, and i don´t know what to do with that one.
Perhaps somebody can help you better than me, wish you luck.
A good idea was if you took that one off, and replace it with a Matrix. Here in my zone it costs around 30 euros (quite the same in dollars), and with this one you can do many applications with it.
