Swap Magic Coder 3.8 & Action Replay Max Codes

Hi all,
I've been searching and reading these forums for days and been trying all these methods mentioned here to get Action Replay Max cheats to work with Swap Magic Coder 3.8 but...no luck!
I have the original Action Replay Max disc (without the dongle) and original Swap Magic Coder 3.8 discs. My PS2 is the old fatty one, and my region is PAL.
These are some of the methods I've tried:
- The memory card method where you pull the memory card out. Result: black screen.
- The USB method where you pull the USB stick out. Result: black screen.
- The CD/DVD Loader method. Result: black screen after swapping the CD/DVD Loader disc.
- The "normal" and "special" modes for booting inside Swap Magic Coder 3.8.
If I just use Swap Magic Coder 3.8 and then swap for backup game or CD/DVD Loader disc then it boots fine. It seems that using the Action Replay Max as the first disc to load is the problem because even if I select "no cheats", eject it for Swap Magic Coder 3.8 and then a backup game or CD/DVD Loader, the result is still a black screen!
Can anyone enlighten me on how to get it to work? I'm getting tired after so many attempts...Does the same thing happen with Swap Magic 3.6?

I would like to know a way to get ARMAX working with 3.8 SMD

You cant use a normal AR MAX with SM, you'll need the Swap Magic fixed version of AR MAX.
The best devices to use are; Codebreaker v9.2 cracked, Gameshark v3 or above, or Xploder.
AR MAX is rubbish tbh.

Does Gameshark 2 v4 work? coz basically there is a v4 out and i can see a site selling it but it doesnt say the version and since v4 is the latest out am guessing its that one.

I get the same problem with codebreaker V8.1. When I try to use it with FFXII backup it freezes. I have swap magic 3.8 and it looks like it about to load then it doesnt. You know the green outline it gets before it loads. I'm going to try the cracked verion right now with a flash drive and swap magic.

Can some one confirm that Xploder newest version works with SM 3.8
so i can buy it seems like code breaker doesnt work neither can you buy it in uk, gameshark is not available in the UK, so only left with Xploder - can buy it in uk but duno if it works anyone used it please tell us if it works thank you

How/Where can I get a Swap Magic fixed version of AR MAX? I think there's a guide to make your own disc somewhere in this forum but I can't seem to get ISO Buster to even extract my original AR Max disc! It keeps showing errors...
So it doesn't matter whether you use Swap Magic 3.6 or Coder 3.8 because neither works with AR Max?

to answer lackyno's question; no you CAN NOT use armax codes on the swap magic 3.8 coder action replay because in the 3.8 coder, its a ACTION REPLAY. not action replay max. it means you cant use armax codes on AR. you could convert the armax codes to ar which will work.

Ok, so Coder 3.8 doesn't work with ARMax, but what about version 3.6 or earlier? Would they work since they don't have any codes built in? Because then I can just sell my Coder 3.8 and buy the 3.6 version instead.

I never said Coder 3.6 does work. There is no such thing as Coder 3.6. There is Swap Magic 3.6 and the *new* Swap Magic 3.8 is called Coder. As xsh1n0x said, because of the built-in codes inside Coder 3.8, it seems you can't get it to work in conjunction with AR Max. Therefore, I was only wondering if it would work using Swap Magic 3.6 or earlier versions since these don't have any codes built-in. Now, can anyone confirm this?
