I have a 1 gig usb mem stick and a 200 gig samsung hdd. In a usb case. i have made te usb extreme cd but it does not work i get the "please insert ps2 format dvd or cd".
i have no mod chip and no swap magic cd....
if there is a tut on this can some one pointhte way
You either need a modchip or swap magic to run your back up usb extreme. You cannot run a backup cd/dvd without some kind of mod that can allow you to play backs.
I used my Action Replay Max Duo Evo (the one with the 16mb usb stick, picked it up at EB a few weeks ago), put the usbadvance elf I found online, used the windows software to take the disk image (thru Daemon Tools) and put it on the harddrive (actually, I used subst to make a fake drive, and then copied it from there to my usb harddrive, considerly faster).
Then, with the usb stick in the top slot, the usb harddrive in the bottem, the ar disk in the drive, I booted it, picked media player, picked the usbadvance elf (sometimes I have to take my usb stick out and then put it back in to see the elf file), that loads, then has me pick out which game was on my usb harddrive.
the usb harddrive was a regular 3.5 7200rpm drive that I used a usb to ide adaptor for. The best way to do it, as those drives are usually twice as fast as the smaller drives.
Loaded Naruto Ultimate Ninja, and Need For Speed Most Wanted No probelm.
couldn't load Ico, or the HDAdvance dvd, but it's the PAL version, and my machines the nstc version, so that's probably why. I have an internal harddrive also, just haven't figured out how to get stuff to that yet.
I just started this yesterday, after googleing "playing ps2 backups" and following the different guides around. Alot of them were from this site.
