Help with ps1 backups on slim ps2

Ok, I have a slim ps2 {70005 korea, so I guess that's v12). Problem is, I don't know what chip it was modded with. I think I saw the chip before it was installed (color red, looked like a magic chip to me). Well anyway, ps2 backups work fine, but when I try putting a burned ps1 game, it first gives a black screen like its loading, then goes straight to the memory card screen. Anyone have an idea how to make them work?

Try tap twice the "reset" button (quickly), and try more than one game, because the problem could be on the disc.
Or press the "circle" button of controler, since the moment you press "reset", till the message "sony computer entertainment" shows up.(this last one is for Matrix, but try anyway.

It's so simple. To boot PSX games on a PS2 you need to
.Put in an original PSX game.
.When it begins to load and gets to the black screen swap it with the backup.

Really simple.

Since the ps2 is modded, don´t see the point to swap discs and it´s not necessary an original game (if modded).
When i wanted to play "Lunar: complete silver story", only could get the classic psx screen, and the game didn´t go forwards from there.
So, i started with a one which worked well, and when i got the psx screen (not the black one)i swapped it with "lunar" and it booted all times. Don´t need to rush, it takes about 10 seconds to the psx screen fade away.
