so far i've tried pmp mod and emulators (super nintendo and stuff).
now i wanna try some other homebrew applications but i don't know which ones i should try.
can someone recommend me some

take a look at irshell. you might like that. I also like things that allow you to flash custom files to the psp such as x-flash. gives it that custom look.

If you do not have 100% confidence in you, your psp and the maker of anything that touches your PSP's flash... DO NOT ATTEMPT IT. I dont care how enticing it is. I run 1.50 still with several versions of devhook to fit whatever need along with irshell 2.2.. I can do everything and I have not run into a single problem that was firmware related. That may change with games req 2.8 but by than that'll be emulated to.

shame on you for suggesting X-flash. If you wanna make your PSP pretty and use devhook and/or irshell there are plenty of SAFE ways to do it.

shame on me. dont make me laugh. wait you already did. xflash is a very good program and as long as u use it properly you wont end up with a brick. theres alot of good things that come with xflash like the ability to make ur psp not update past 1.5. one feature im very fond of. he asked for recommendations for cool homebrew and i recommended.

some other cool homebrews are devhook incase u havent heard of that. the doom clone is cool, with that u can also play hexen, quake, duke nukem. theres quite a few to list but here is a link where u can check out homebrew apps and games - http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/7

You are a little too extreme,no offense, but x-flash aint that dangerous if you follows some of the many tutorial that are every where.

An alternative to x-flash is ThemePSP which i had used before. This app is made to costimize your gameboots, sound boots, manue names, backgrounds, fronts or remove the wavy lines. The good thing about this app is that it is a lot easier to use than x-fash. however this does not disables any updates or changes your fimware to 13.37, for that you use x-flash.

i heard irshell is a great app but it just did not work for me, it was difficult to make all the features work properly. but it might work for you sssilver

primarily based on the fact that I hear ALOT of people talk about how great it is. I havent found a reason to run it yet but i'm thinkin i might have to just to see how good it is.

In good faith and being on these forums I could never suggest Anyone attempt to use any program that messes with their flash. I would never do it so I would never suggest someone be a ginuea pig. Im here to help people and ill only offer help, suggestions, advice on non flash related stuff. if its flash related damn right im going to convince them not to why? cos the only people comfortable doing it are those that have been doing it, those that know the risk... don't effing bring newbs onboard. Flash is for people that know the risk and consciously take it.. not someone telling OH its safe try IT. Thats just effed up IMO. So shame on all of you that think publically advertising any type of flash mod is COOL. I dont care what you think of me, a newb, an ass, a dumbass I dont care cos my PSP can do everything your PSP does EVERYTHING. And aside from downgrading to 1.50 FW I have NEVER put my PSP in danger of being bricked.

you run more of a risk downgrading then you do with x-flash, in most cases. the main risk from x-flash is using custom files you made urself. the dev of x-flash extensively tested the custom files he bundled with his work. as for guinea pig....hmm that doesnt really fit the situation because any good dev tests their stuff before releasing it.

No actually, I have NEVER ever read a forum post or reply saying that they had a non-TA-082 and they downgraded using the proper method, AND they bricked.. NEVER and I frequent about 7 different PSP hack forums. X-Flash on the other hand ive already read at least half a dozen possible brick threads. Yeah I know you can recover a potential brick but that still to me is unsafe. Ive read a couple failed 2.71SE.B attempted that turned into a semi brick. Yeah all semi and thank god all from what I read they were back up in running or at least kinda after 2 weeks waiting for fixes on their respective forum. SO dont try throwing stuff in my face. IMO if you got more than 1.5 firmware, do what you gotta, if you brick it, take it back and try again. Sony's the one that is constantly trying to limit its own products functionality and its no wonder they keep dropping the price. but still right now at 150$ you might as well make sure it aint a TA-082 and its 2.6 or less. As far as bricking with Xflash and custom files.. well thats the effing problem. Im NOT saying Xflash itself is the root of the problem and I know its other peoples customizations. AND that is my point!! You are giving people a loaded gun not to blow themselves away but to share it and well ... yeah. You are better off doing a "neccesary" downgrade to 1.50. And than never touch the bios again. Cos all the things people rave about that touches the bios can already be done safely if you have 1.5. Think of it this way, you cheated death once... dont give him a second chance. :)

LOL as i said in another thread conversation ended. Im really sorry I assume youve bricked many a PSP. IF you and everyone else followed the well informed tutorials, I did, and payed attention to warning signs there would be no bricks there would just be the haves and the have nots. And the have nots took a chance , or didnt read the disclaimers or just didnt exchange their PSP for one that was compatible for downgrading. If your PSP is downgradable it will downgrade, as you said a dev wont release something thatll brick someones psp without thouroughly testing it. However you are ok using that principle with programs that while, the developer knowing what hes doing wont brick but adds so many potential options to the end user to brick it themselves... you'd think people would be smart but give loaded guns to monkeys that dont know what a gun is and see how many shoot themselves in the face.

GPSP(Gba Emulator), AFKIM(Messenger), DevHook(GUI Mod), IRSHELL(can do tons of thing, very flexible, a-must for a real PSP user)

I constantly flash my PSP and have never had any problem but thats not to say it wont ever happen.

i have downloaded xflash 18, and i put the two folders into my psp/game directory, then when i go to game/memorystick/xflash on my psp i click x and it says cannot be started data is corrupt??? help me out
