I tried that but i am not even getting the orange charging light appearing when ive plugged it in . Do you know if i could have bricked it by what i did , which was just flicking the power switch to sleep mode mid way through a game?

That is also odd how the charging light is not coming on. even if a psp is bricked that should still come on. hopefully your power switch pcb didnt go out on ya.

When it is unplugged and i switch it on the green light comes on for about ten seconds then goes off, looks like this could be serious if i cant even power it up, only had it a week as well, gutted!

Jeez that sux. I wouldnt lose hope tho. It shouldnt have bricked just from leaving it in sleep mode, as I have done this many times with mine.

just out of interest can you tell us what firmware you were using?
was it an iso that you downloaded?

have you tried removing the memory card before powering up, something I wouldn't normally do but wondering if it is worth a try.

More interested in what firmware than anything.

EDIT ADDED...

Just had a bit of a thought...

The charging light is not comming on, the PSP seems to try to start when it is unplugged but fails.

So, is the charger broke? Is it switched on at the wall?
Can you test the PSP with a battery from a friends PSP?

Then try charging that battery on your PSP with your charger,
Then try charging it with their charger,
If both of the above work it is not your charger it is your battery.
If only using their charger works it is your charger and your battery might be ok.

I would not test my battery or charger on someone elses PSP for the time being as they might be doing something nasty.

Good idea kondor, because if you say you just only got your psp not so long ago, sony usaually put a 1 year warranty on their products, but if you were using a ISO to run it off, you would of automatically made the warranty void!

it doesnt necessarily void the warranty. i know of people who have sent it psp's with homebrew on them and sony fixed it. didnt come back homebrew compatible tho. what voids the warranty is cracking it open and removing the warranty sticker.

oh ryte, never knew that! i automatically thought they would make that void the warranty seeing as they go to extreem lenghts to stop you using homebrew.

I took my battery out and put it in a friends psp and that worked ok.I then tried a different charger on my psp but still no joy, it just does not power up . I am using devhook 44 on my psp which is 1.5 firmware. i have had no problems until last night when i flicked it into sleep mode. I am maybe thinking i flicked the switch too hard/fast and something has broke? Thanks for your comments so far everyone.

is not the batteries i know wat ur problem is, cuz i had that too. jus out of question is psp 2nd hand? cuz when i got my 3rd one it was 2nd hand used, but like when i played wit it it was all fine n stuff, then i charged it, try n turn it on it goes on for like 10 sec then shuts down like i got green light too on power but nuthin on sceen, i kept tryin n tryin thinking is the batteries but no luck even wit jus charger in it won't turn on, then all of of a sudden it TURNS ON!! but then dies again. so it turns out the problem it is ur MOBO sumething went hay wire either a resistor or sumthing got disconnected not allowing full circit flow. so i sent it bac for a money refund -.-
