What backup are you trying to load?
If it needs Zoneloader for some Swap Magic users, then you can bet you'll need it for cogswap....
Take Scarface for example....most Swap Magic people have trouble with it, but once they use Zoneloader it's absolutely fine...
I tried it with cogswap....and just got a black screen....
Then I tried it with Zoneloader on cogswap, and it works a treat.

Note: Here is how to use Zoneloader with cogswap, it's just an extra swap with the knife:
load cogswap
swap normally with a original PS2DVD
press X
swap-in Zoneloader using the "knife" trick
press X and let it load
Once it does, it'll tell you to swap the disc.
use the knife trick again and put in your backup
choose your TV type
press X to start

And you haven't got it to work for any game?
What version console are you trying it on?

You're not pushing the 'Eject' button when swapping a disc using the 'knife' trick are you? either for eject or puttin the game back in...

High enough TOC for original PS2?

I have a SPCH-30001. Im not pushing eject, and im using Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance for high TOC(4.35 i think). My guess is i should try a different TOC disk like one from the GTA series(i dont own any). Maybe i will buy one
