Once the others have helped out with any spyware,moite you have a stack of progs that run on startup that are'nt needed and which can be manually started if needed things like Quicktime task,HP updater etc, you can use ccleaner-tools-startup = to remove startup keys of unecessary progs

next you only need
1 firewall
1 antivirus
2-3 anti spyware apps = 1 real time scanner and 2 manual scanner type,personally i only use 1 of each of the spy apps

would'nt hurt to do a defrag after all is done, ok the link below will take you to a site that has a free process tool that tells you exactly what process that is in task manager it's under the tab "free tools" and is called "processlibrary.com quick access" ,it should be the first app in the list you can then delete safely any startup keys it says are safe to remove as i stated earlier
