@Hellraz0r

Well apparently there is something on your system that keep messing DVD Shrink up. To be honest with you I've never had any movies/dvds that DVDFAB Decrypter can not rip, once after that regardless of what I used to encode/transcode (DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP 2.7, DVD Shrink or Nero Recode), all process are smooth and easy as usual.

Post up a screenshot from the messed up DVD Shrink screen if you can. When was the last time you defrag your HD? This maybe irrelevant, but it's wise to keep your HD nice and clean, so try to run a "Disk Cleanup" and defrag your HD for fragmented files at least once a week.

ok well here
i formatted my computer 2 days ago to try to fix this. didnt work
however, i did the same thing you do in DVD fab, only using DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD this time, then i ran it through that FIXVTS program for the hell of it. Then I opened the whole video_TS folder in shrink and output it as an ISO.
SO FAR,, so good!
Now im going to burn the iso using image burn to see if this does the trick. other wise, i guess its just wierd that my old routine of copying dvds stopped working.
Also yesterday i was able to copy dvds but using ONLY DVD Shrink, as in i just opened the disc with shrink and had it do the whole thing in one shot.
Anyway, dont know why DVD fab didnt work for me, only tried it once though.
What do you think is a better combination, DVD Decryptor with ANY DVD
or the DVD Fab by itself. (Especially for removing protections)

This question has been asked too many times here at AD and sometimes things can get mixed/heated up down the road from replies. That being said; I'm not going to pull anyone's leg, but simply answering what you're asking.

Me, I like it simple and free, so I'm with DVDFAB Decrypter. For ripping and decrypting protections, I used nothing but RipIt4Me or DVDFAB Decrypter. These 2 great free tools has never let me down, both are really easy to use. Most of the times, I used VobBlanker after DVDFAB because I want to, plus I want to get rid of FBI Warnings, Trailers/Advertise, Extras, etc.

We're all entitled to our own judgment and preferences, so the choice is yours.

Regards

I personally think that DVD Decrypter is better than DVDFab. You have to have DVD Decrypter set up properly. I will give you a couple of pics to see if you have decrypter set up properly.

alkohol and I have a lot of similarities in how we burn movies. Some of this is using three or four programs to do it. We both like VobBlanker, but in some cases RipIt4Me works quite well if you are having any problems. DVDFab works well, but I prefer Decrypter. See if you have Decrypter set up the same way I do. If it fails then use RipIt4Me. RipIt4Me uses a combination of programs to get the movie ripped but you will end up with quality when you are finished. Also familiarize yourself with VobBlanker. There are a few guides to get you started. After you have practiced a few times you will become quite familiar with the program.

OK so this is what I learned.

Due to my personal preference, i will be using DVD Decrypter, along with Slysoft ANY DVD.

Instead of setting output files as .iso, I will use file mode.
This seems to work for me.

I Have FIXVTS, but how do I know when I need to use this program?
Anyway, I will then run the files through DVD Shrink.
Do I backup to ISO and then burn it with imgburn,
or do I back up to my dvd burner drive and burn with decrypter THROUGH shrink (due to imgburn not being on the list)

Also what is ripit4me, is it just a program that collaborates all these steps I need to do and complete it in one process and do all the work for me?

You will most likely never need to use RipIt4Me. As long as you have AnyDVD updated DVDDecrypter will do all of the work for you. I use VobBlanker after I decrypt the files to get rid of unwanted material, then I use Shrink and Nero to burn.

I have only used RipIt4Me once. That was when AnyDVD was not up to date. What I generally use is AnyDVD, DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker, Shrink, and Nero to burn. Of course if you have Recode2 you may skip using Shrink. Recode2 will handle everything that Shrink handles.

I use Recode2 if I am burning straight to the disk. However, I like to put the disk to the HD first, then burn with Nero. By doing this, if for some reason I have a problem with the burn, the original is still on the HD. I use TJ's to burn to so I normally don't have a problem. Of course I have 3 HD's, if you only have 1 HD then you may not be able to keep multiple DVDs on a drive.

If you decide to use VobBlanker you will need to make a new folder for processing. Let's say the movie is M:I 3. My first location for decryption is D:\MI3\VIDEO_TS. My second location is D:\MI3_New\VIDEO_TS. My third location is G:\MI3\VIDEO_TS. The G drive is where I keep my movies. The locations on the other drive I may remove. With a little practice using VobBlanker you will understand the steps I have just explained.

Hi, Everyone, I also had the same trouble when I burned a DVD9. My procedure is:
(1) use Decrypter to copy all the stuff (Mode--File) in a D9 to my hard disk;
(2) Use Nero express (version 6), choose "DVD video", when I put all the files into the corresponding folder and began to burn the DVD9 (Dual layer, 8.5 G, +R), the warning message appeared: "File re-Allocation Failed,...unplayable..".
I ever ignored this warning, and went on. I got a D9 which could be played on that PC, but cannot be read on my laptop.
I ever used ONES to burn the D9, no warning message came out, but it cannot play on my laptop although my laptop DVD driver can read the original D9.

But I ever successfully burned some DVD5 before, and these DVDs could be played on many kinds of DVD drivers.
So I guess the problem has nothing to do with the DVD shrinker. I never used this software since I don't like a shrink version of D9.
I ever read a thread posted on another website, their main suggestion is to use IFOEdit to correct the IFO/BUP files, but it seems not to work as least for my concern.
Hope my experience can help to some extent.

The basic problem is an old bug in DVD Decrypter that generates the problems with the allocation error in Nero due to a unreferenced VIDEO_TS.VOB and/or VTS_XX_0.VOB file (menu files). Only solution if you rip in file mode is to use FixVTS (or VobBlanker if it is the VIDEO_TS.VOB file). You can also just delete the unreferenced menu VOB file if you know which one it is. Sometimes Nero reports the name of it.

WTF... You cant use any HTML tags in here...
