You got the hitachi drive? I know EA used the ss trick on TWPG 07 which messed with the hit. drives.

So does the ss trick EA used on Tiger 07 only affect Hitachi drives and not Toshiba? thanks

Yes only the Hitachi's. But I'm not saying this is definately the problem unchris55 is having as my knowledge pertains more to Samsung, not the Hitachi.

From what I understand using the latest firmware from opa fixed the ss problem. I thing ps2menace may be able to shed more light on this as he seems to know pleanty about the Hitachi.

My need for speed carbon has no problems. I've burned at 4x with Clone CD with Verbatim DVD+R DL. The NFS:Carbon (USA) that I got was from the newsgroups and already stealth patched.
I didn't get prompted to update when I first played but I had already done the Fall Dash update. Any update with a hitach drive (modded or not) is so far ok. You can update the Dash and play.
There is no ss trick for this game as there was with the original of TW:07. The original boots fine, the backup boots fine. You may need OPA-Xtreme 2.3 Stealth for your hitachi drive though. Can you tell me the scene name of the release you got?

Thanks bhetrick and PS2Menace for the news. I have a Toshiba m25 drive and just did the fall live update with out any problems. I was just reading about the problems with Tiger 07 and Carbon so I was a little hesitant about trying them.

Ya... if it's playing a little then quiting, it's a bad burn. What media are you using? You didn't mention that.
