Hi all,
I recently purchased a PCI SATA card '6421L' as i couldnt get my onboard SATA to flash drive. I thought it would be easy from then on but (as usual) i was wrong.
I have an ms28 drive and followed this video tutorial:-

This is the xtreme boot maker way, adding the '/sata' switches to 'samread' & 'samhack'. But no matter how many times i try it i cant get it to work. At first it was sticking on screen with 'no device found' message, but now after more tries i get 'port:db00, Master/Slave a0' message.
After reading around i found another way is using the mtkflash r /m orig.bin way. I would like to try it but i cannot get my hands on an editedmtkflash or mtkflash.exe. All the links on the forums dont work.
Does anybody have/know were i can get this as i havnt got a clue about hex editing?

the xtreme boot maker give you a costum flash option just check use custom mtkflash try it with your on board sata 1st

Hi mate, yea i done that part and it was sticking. But ive just tried it all again and something different happened this time.
I booted from floopy as usual, turned on xbox and typed in the samread command and i did get options this time.
Although my 6421L card wasnt one of the options i got:-
1) IDE Master
2) xtreme Master
I went for option 2 and it started the scan and completed. I rebboted and typed the samhack command but it said error reading drive and i couldt go any further. I booted from HD and checked the floppy. In the 'backups' folder it looks like my xbox drives details are in there. It has a folder with 1st part of serial, inside that folder with 2nd part of serial and inside that 'hacked.bin' & 'orig.bin'.
Is this correct? and any ideas for getting it back on?

I got this message when i tried the samhack line (to put back on):-
'Updating 00%'
'ERR: Failed to read input file'

congrats you have the orig.bin !!! if it won't write try delaying to turn on 360 til you have the dos screen loaded if that doesn't work get a new floppy but your half way there

Hi bills + co. Well after i said i was getting somewhere with this, i have another problem ! When i turn on my xbox (connected to pc or not) i just get a green flashing light in the middle of the 360 power button, which blinks. It seems to blink in unison with the white line when booting from floppy. I think this may be because i only managed to get my backed up FW off but not back on??
Any ideas bills or anyone ? Tell me i havnt bricked my drive please !!

Ok panic over, i re-tried the whole process using a flash drive, not a damn floppy and it seems to have worked fine this time. After the samhack line it updated up to 100% on 4 different lines and said done 'reboot pc' so i think im done. Thanks for the help all, im sure ill be back soon moaning that my backups dont work!! hahaha

Hahahahaha !!! As above, my games dont work.
Sorry for all the posts guys, but im nearly there i think.
When i put my backed up disc in the drive it says:- "To play this disc put it in a xbox 360 console". I thought it could be a bad burn or something like that so i rented an original 360 game (test drive) to try, but i still get the same "to play this disc...." message.
Any idea what this means guys??
Samsung ms28. 6421L SATA card, Used Xtreme boot maker with extrem41a.bin. Is this the correct FW for my drive??

if it is saying it with originals to then that means the dvd drive key was entered incorrect, just manually hexedit your drive key into the firmware, if you don't feel like you can than send me your orig.bin and i will hex edit for you, only takes like 2 mins

The only one i have is the one i rented. I did burn a game with DVD Decrypter, using the layer breaks and the image file.
It did complete with no problems so im pretty confident that one would of worked but who knows.
The more i read around i think i might just have to hex edit my orig.bin file as 98sohc said. I have dloaded hex workshop and followed tut's but its a bit heavy for me, im also not sure how to get the hex edited orig.bin back into the firmware.
What an amatuer !! We all start somewhere though i guess.

if orignals still besides your rental download the lastest version of imgburn fromally DVD Decrypter and place setting acording to this guide http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?r...ght=imgburn+360
and then open the dvd.image with notepad and remove the layer breaker from the image and save.
If you already did this never mind but it sounds like you tried to use layerbreaker from image

Yea i did do the open in notepad part. The layer break is already set up from the first DVD i done. Delete layer break line and save as 'IMAGE_DVDDECRYPTER'. Loaded it up in DVD Decrypter and burnt it. It was 7.5gig. Looked like it completed no problem.
Do you think the hex edited of my orig.bin could work? Im really stuck for options at the moment, thanks

well that could work but what doesn't make sense to me is that orignals play (besides your game rental which could of been fubar'd when you got it) play. mail your orig and hacked.bin to 98sohc and check but Im going with that your orignals play, so you just have to figure out how to burn the game properly. did you start the whole process over with you pen drive or did you copy the files from that floppy?Pm me or check the release title on nforce and make sure it wasn't nuked.Also try to upgrade to imgburn and I've never renamed my images (don't know if that has something to do with it.) + what blank media are you using

Just to say, i dont own any originals right now as the console is new, and i havnt tried any apart from the rented one and the one i did (from newsgroups).
I dont think i have to rename the image actually, just going on a tutorial i read, here:-

When i get a file i have the large DVD file and a small (20kb's or so) file (image/dvd) and i use the small one usually. Ive been using DVD dec. for a while now, so id like to think my knowlege of this is better than xbox!
Ive tried 3 different types of media:-
Traxdata = DVD wont read
Verbatim = DVD wont read
TDK = worked.
So, TDK.
I'll mail my files to sohc and see were that gets me. But you may well be right billz, i know this has worked without the editing part for other people. Trial and error i guess.

yes,email the files. the program does the hex edit for you but if it won't read the only orignal game you have sound like a bad flash if anything try reflashing orig file to drive and see if orig plays
