Can I use BENQ DW1655 to burn backup?

Hi all,
I've been trying to burn some games downloaded from the newsgroup using CloneCD (with BENQ drive and Verbatim disk) but no success......"Unreadable" in the Console
Do I need to buy another drive (ie. 111D) just to burn the 360 games?

I personally would recommend this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827129001 everyone that has it has had great success with it when used with verbatim dl media. I personally have it, but I haven't started burning because I am still waiting for the verbatim media to arrive. It's fairly cheap by the way and ben q burners are not even that great. And if it does work you might have to fiddle with the firmware on the burner itself. Hope this helped.

I, too, recommend the 111d. But I have a 111d, 1655, and 710a, and the benq 1655 burns 360 games just fine for me. And I don't even bother booktyping.

Have you flashed the burner with the latest firmware?

bhetrick, quick question

do yo recommend upgrading the firmwared on the 111d to burn games or can you just start burning with the factory default firmware? I think I read somewhere that some peopled haven't even bothred with the firmware upgrade for this one and that they have been able to burn without problems. Can you post link for firmware upgrade on the 111d thanks!

I believe this is the latest version. What version of the firmware do you use?

@xmatic.. It should burn just fine out of the box but it's always better to update. 1.29 is the latest for the 111d and offers better media support and better burning.


@ legend...BCIB is the latest. Just came out 9/1. But I'm actually still running BCHB.
