i have a ps2 v3 modded with magic 3 modchip.
i can't use ethernet adaptator coz i live in mars (somewhere in africa) and in my planet we don't have ps2 ethernet adaptator but we have external hdd.
And when i hear that usb extreme can be used with an external hdd to play games i buy this hdd :
160 gb lacie p3 hd usb 2.0 with the product code 300700ek
and according to this website my hdd work with a v7 and i have a v3

can this be the reason of my problem a diffrence in ps2 version !!!
or something else ?
i follow the entire guide step by step and when i launch usb extreme it say "insert a usb device".
i try to use windows gui of usb extreme to format the harddrive and the dos version of it , i use the file system ntfs and fat32 it always fail.
does anyone can help me please and sorry for my bad english

maybe you didnt format it correctly.have you tried USB Extreme to format it?

i try both win32 and dos version of usbextreme to format the hdd using ntfs and fat32 separately , but no way the ps2 don't recognized him the hdd.
if you mean formatting the hdd using usb extreme cd it can't be possible coz the ps2 don't recognize the hdd.
i doubt after that in my ps2 usb port but when i use my usb pen drive the ps2 recognize it.
in our market we don't have a big choice in external hdd that's why i buy lacie and also i choose it coz i found that it work in the hdd compatibility list of the website "http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=drive&did=2657" if this is a joke so it's a terrible joke for me coz i'm not so rich to buy another one.

okay go here http://www.hdadvance.com/download/ if you havent
and download USBeXtreme Windows mode Client Software (ENG .zip file) 166KB
dont forget to put the hard drive in the pc and set it as a secondary drive.open up USB EXTREME EXE. go to disk format and format the drive from there.see if that helps
its a little different from the dos mode.
