DVD Decrypter is a better decrypter than DVDFab. Most people have a hard time finding it to download. It has a lot of features that Fab does not offer. DVD Decrypter takes up very little HD space. I recommend that you keep it. One day you may desire to get AnyDVD. When you do you can set up DVD Decrypter to work with AnyDVD.
You can download DVDFab at this site: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm Many people are very happy with it. I used it for a long time, before I got AnyDVD.
So if you wish to remove DVD Decrypter that is a decision that only you can make. Just remember that if you get rid of it, you may not be able to find it to download again.

These sort of problems that often occur with newly released Arccos & Macrovision RipGuard protected movies is what sets AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 apart from most freeware. I was fortunate enough to purchase "Little Man" & "Cars" 2 weeks ago and and made back ups for travel using the latest AnyDVD in the backround and CloneDVD2 with no trouble. Problems like the ones described above and the SlySofts ability to tackle these problems without multiple software combinations is why AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 are superior software in comparison to freeware. I say this cause many here at the forums often wonder are these programs worth the money and why. The answer is simplicity among other reasons. With AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 you do not encounter the problems mentioned above. AnyDVD/CloneDVD2 worth every penny.:P

@N2DVD-
I agree that AnyDVD is worth the money. I however don't agree that CloneDVD2 is. Yes, you are able to get rid of a lot of annoying stuff but with the use of DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker (I like to use among many others here at this forum), and DVD Shrink or Recode2 you will get better quality DVDs in the long run.
For people that want to be able to back up movies, but can't afford to buy AnyDVD or CloneDVD2, they can count on us to help them get their movies backed up for free. For example if you do not have AnyDVD then use DVDFab Decrypter. It is free and updated regularly, however, it is not as good as DVD Decrypter.
Of course that is just my 2 cents, many will agree, many will disagree.

@syxguns, I too use Nero 7 RECODE2 primarily with AnyDVD in the backround. But did you know that you can retain your menu feature in "Movie Only" mode with CloneDVD2 also when you encounter movies like "CARS" that you wish to back up to a standard 4.7GB blank disc but the films content exceeds the compression limitation due to extra features. CloneDVD2 is designed to override the limitation and allow for you to back up a movie like cars regardless. What I like is this programs objective which is in the name itself. CloneDVD2 works hard to get you the back-up disc you want, It goes the extra step and factors in what many still want when choosing the "MOVIE ONLY option (The Menu).:P

@N2DVD-
I had never tried the movie only feature of CloneDVD2. I didn't realize that it would retain the menu. I am so use to Shrink and Recode that I never tried it. I will give it a shot tonight and see what kind of compression I end up with.
That's what we are here for! Teach & Learn!

What I like about ripit4me you can rip movie+menus and check off jump to main move title when its done ripping shrink opens in full disk mode and you now have movie with functional menus. So with the help of ripit4me shrink can now do movie+ functional menus.

@paschal93, You have that feature with AnyDVD minus the need to combine programs. It's not the fault of programs like SHRINK, DVD Decrypter, ETC...that they don't work as well as AnyDVD or CloneDVD2. The software is no longer supported. DVDFab is good but is definitely hit or miss with a gui that's almost identical to CloneDVD2 in the full version? RIPIT4ME & Vob Blanker are the two best freeware decrypting softwares out there in my opinion but none of the freeware can save you the time that slysofts programs can. I love interacting with everyone here at the forum I just want more members to know the difference in purchasing supported software. It's having the ability to back up the movies you like minus the headaches and challenges that the encryptions poses with each new release.:P

What about using DVD Region+CSS Free running in the background, along with dvdfab then using menushrink, and finally DVD Shrink? This is what I started using today since AnyDVD trial ran out. How is this setup sound?

ive always been able to get all the menus and all functions dvd rom functions . just with DVD Shrink with dvdidlepro and Nero running in the background with between 50 and 56% compression and taking out all the french and spanish or what ever other language subtitles . i never had any probs b4 this Little Man movie never seen the error it gave me ever b4!! it worked fine with DVD Shrink and AnyDVD and Nero. guess ill try one if it dont work ill use the other . just hope the 2 dont conflict with each other like dvd 43 does.

SHRINK alone will not preserve menus in "Movie Only" mode like CloneDVD2. I just purchased "Davinci Code" (Finally) and my point is made clear with this SONY release that has the typical Arccos encryption but was no trouble at all for AnyDVD 6.0.8.2 running in the backround and backed-up using Nero 7 Recode2 (Note: Nero 7 has no decrypting capabilities). No errors, no hassles at all. I also purchased "Accepted" and it was also backed up using this simple combination. I know it sounds corny, but my advice to all is to "Get with the program" AnyDVD baby!!!! it just doesn't get any easier and of course don't forget CloneDVD2. Look at at it like this...members here who own AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 come off to others as bragging when the real difference is success when using AnyDVD and or CloneDVD2 as opposed to the often reported complications and struggle that goes on unneedingly because of those who choose to use alternative decrypting software. AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 are that good.:P

The guide that cincyrob gave you is the same I would have. It is very easy to use. It will open all the programs as it does its job. You will have to have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink as well as RipIt4Me.
