I have downloaded dvdshrink and i follow the directions and everything, but when i try to put in a blank DVD-R the program wont copy, it says it wont work, just stops and ejects the disk, and says i should clean it or try another brand. Ive already bought 3 different kinds of dvd-r's but they dont work and i have no idea what the problem is and im sick of wasting money. If anyone has any help i would really appriciate it.

Does your DVD burner accept -R's? Some burners are +R burners! Maybe you should be buying +R DVDs and then booktyping them to -R!

Have you tried DVD +R instead of the DVD - R? Some DVD burners don't like the - R discs.

If the DVD+Rs do the trick, then you'll want to booktype them to DVD-ROMs NOT DVD-Rs. Most standalone DVD players will recognize the discs better. You burner must be capable.

are you having trouble copying from DVD-R's or having trouble writing to DVD-R's ?

Sounds like he's having trouble writing them since he's tried 3 different brands.

@bobdaman7

What is your burner's brand and model number?

Your drive is a +R drive. You need to buy +R DVDs. In your first post you said that you were buying -R. They are not compatible.

Oh, also, buy quality discs. There's the "Made in Japan" rule. If it says Made in Japan on the package, it's good. The only exception is Verbatim, which is also good.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

bobdaman7 I had that problem too once. My DVD burner does support DVD-Rs but for some reason when using DVD Shrink, they don't work. What you have to do is get yourself some DVD+R, they'll do the job, plus they are better since they are compatible with almost all DVD player brands.

I use DVDShrink to put on HD. Then IMGBURN to burn. Now I have a ? Will some give me a good explantion what bookmark is and the why's of it. I have a Benq dw1655 and havn't had any probs as of yet. And I use Ritek DVD-R hub printable. And now does anyone know why Canon doesn't sell DVD capable printers here in the USA. I have been using Epson. Would like to hear something about the Canon as I used to use them before the printable DVD come out. Thanks Rex

You cannot book type -Rs only +Rs to DVD-ROM!
