Hi There for quite sometime i have been backing up my DVD's using Nero, and Blank DVD+R, Then for some reason when I now try it comes failed to write to disk, I have tried clone, and DVD srink, and the same happens. However I tried a DVD-R and it dod write to disk, but will not work on my DVD player. I was told it could that the size of the disk is to small, so I got Dual layer, and that comes up with the same problem. What I can'r understand is sometimes it will write, and sometimes it won't. I have checked the Nero tool kit and the boxes are ticked. One other I have noticed is that if I click on the D drive icon to open up the blank disk it comes with a message saying Disk not assessible incorrect function, or tells me to Insert disk. Please help as I have run out of ideas.

Check here, to see if there's a newer version of firmware, for your burner. http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php
New firmware gives your burner the ability to accept more brands of media, as well as other features too.

If that doesn't help, try this.
Open the Device Manager, and find your burner there. Right click on it. Choose "Uninstall". After it uninstalls, reboot, and let Windows detect new hardware, and install a new driver for you. This works a lot of the time, but not always. Don't hurt to try it though.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes...... :o)

What media are you using? Have you tried another brand? If not, try Verbatim or Tayio Yuden; if you're not using them allready.

Did you update your firmware, as JVC said to?

Check that DMA is on.

What model is your drive? Burning at half speed can be selected when you go to burn, in Nero. Just look out for it.

All that media isn't very good. I'd try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden disks.

See if you have some luck with them.

Hi Ripper, My drive is a Philips PBDV164OP, and was working fine until all this started. I have now tried burning at half speed with Nero, and after 3% it froze for a while than said failed burning to disk. I understand what you say about the media not being so good, I suppose it's a bit on the cheap side, but I have been using them for about 18 months with no problem. I inteen to get a better make like you reconmend, but as what I have worked before, I don't see how they can be the problem?

The disks could have been bad, the further down the pack you go. Also if they are old, they could start to break down...

Here is the latest firmware for your drive.
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1941
Update to P3.6.

Get back to me.

On your keyboard, there is a "Prt Screen" button. Press that then paste it into Paint. Then upload the image using www.photobucket.com

And paste the link to the pic here.
