I am having some problems with my computer. I have currently two versions of windows installed, XP Home and XP Pro. For a couple of weeks now, I am unable to start my computer using the XP Pro version. When it comes to the winxp logo during startup, it reboots and starts over. It does this every time, and it won't even start in Safe mode. Today, I cleaned my computer using CCleaner and an online virus-scanner as instructed by aaxxeell in the 'Read this first' thread. The virus-scanner found some malitious items and fixed them. Now I would like to know, what else is left to fix, so here is my HijackThis log:
Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1
Scan saved at 19:22:14, on 09-11-2006
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)
I forgot to say that I of course used the XP Home installation to clean and scan, so I don't know if that has any effect on the HijackThis log. The log seems quite short (few processes running), and normally there is a lot of processes when I'm using the XP Pro version.
Most likely your problem isn't malware, but rather just an OS problem. Scan your system with on online scan to see if there is something bad running 'cause your HjT log is clean.
Go here to run Kaspersky Online Scanner.
After downloading, click "My Computer" to scan.
After scanning, click "Save report as".
Save as a text file on the desktop.
Post the log in your next reply.
