When I try to compress Disney's CARS, 5% through an error comes up saying that: Failed to read File "E:\" Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

What do I do? How do I get past this? Also, I see people are compressing just the movie itself. How do you do this? I would like to compress the movie and the extras like the deleted scenes and stuff. But I dont want the different languages and subtitles and stuff. How can I change this? Do you suggest using a different shrinking system?? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Ad!)

Okay, I'm going to give you a rough run through of how to do this for free.

1) Download DVDFab Decrypter from here: DVDFab Decrypter
2) Download VobBlanker from here: VobBlanker

Now run DVDFab Decrypter. Your file will be put on your hard drive in a temporary folder called DVDFab_Decrypter_Temp (or something like that) Under that folder it will create a folder for the movie along with a VIDEO_TS folder. It should only take about 15 to 20 min. to finish.

You may skip this if you wish.
Now what I did was use VobBlanker. You can get some examples of using it on this web site. Use it to blank out Disney, rating symbols, previews, FBI warnings, and anything else you do not desire on the disk.

Now either Shrink or Recode2 will open the folder and be able to compress the movie. I know for a fact that this movie has repeat previews and extras that is why I suggested using VobBlanker.

Another way to do it!
Download AnyDVD from here: Slysoft!!
Download DVD Decrypter from here: select highlighted text on page

Now on decrypter select tools preferences and set your tabs to like like the following pictures:

Now this next picture shows you how to set up a folder for the location of the movie.

With AnyDVD running in the background DVD Decrypter will be able to complete its task. AnyDVD does have a price tag, but you will get a 21 day free trial of it.

Basic example of VobBlanker

Alkohol wrote a great guide on one of his blog entries for VobBlanker. It will give you a little more information on how to use it. Go here: Alkohol VobBlanker Guide

Good luck and let us know if this information helped!

Thanks for the help. The problem is, the movie is still to big for a dvd it says. Thats probably cause I really dont know how to get rid of extra stuff like the fbi warnings and such. Even if I do that, this movie is 2 hrs long. Not sure it will fit on a DVD anyway. Might have to go out and buy it instead. Haha.

You need to read some of the guides available on this site. See Guides tab at top of this page.

Cars is a very easy movie to backup using DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running in background (other combinations also available). I would suggest using re-author mode in Shrink and doing main movie only.
