Ok, i had my xbox 360 for a week now. Since that all i have been playing is oblivion. This morning whenever im about to enter an oblivion gate it freezes and the dasboard pops up and says the disk is scrated, blablabla clean it... When i got oblivion new there wasnt any scratches. Now when i look at it theres quite a bit of scrathes... I never moved it while playing and its on a horizontal stand.

So is my xbox 360 defeted or its normal for stuff like this to happen?

EDIT: is this alos may be wenever i switch a game i ope the tray in mid gameplay to switch... Can that be a cause?

Thanks in advance

1. You better remove the userbar for a mod shoots ya in the face with an awp.

2. You prob. scratched it moving it around, also it may just be some dirt or smudges on it, so get a very soft cloth, and clean it. Or better yet a cd/dvd cleaner and clean it and see if that fixes it.

I don't know if the scratches are caused specially because you used to open the tray when you're in the middle of a game but normally as a precautionary measure,it's better to stop the game completely, then you open the tray, that's how i always do and my discs remain in good shape.Because don't forget that the disc spins inside while you're playing and when you just press the eject button,it does make the spinning to stop but doesn't get enough time to make it stop completely and that little low speed spin may make the disc to rub against the surface(where you place the disc)when the tray opens. What i used to do when i want to put another game when i'm in the middle of a particular game is to press the big round "x" button on the controller(i don't know exactly how to call that button but i hope you'll understand)and i choose go to the dashboard(before going to the dashboard,it will tell you something like "you will lose any unsaved .......if you go to the dashboard),then once reach the dashboard,i'm pretty sure that the disc has already stopped spinning, then i open the tray.Sure it does take more time than the way you always do but i'm the kind of person who's very careful on these kind of stuff.

Now it can be some dirt(dust accumulating on the tray or inside)as emachine mentioned that may be the cause of these scratches.

Yep,it seems to be a defective one to me too.Just take it back to where you have purchased it and asked for an exchange,as it's still under warranty.

Ohh, this is gunna be a pain in the @$$... Do I call support line or something? And how long is it going to take to fix?

And also if I send it to microsoft, do they open it?
OR
If i use my 3 month warrenty would it affect my target 3 year warrent. Which place should i send it to?
OR
As you said should i put everything that xbox 360 originally came with and goto target and swap it with an un-opened xbox

Thanks in advance.

Go to target and take it back if they will let you. M$ will take so long, and are such a hassle.

I second that. Take it back to the store, first. If you send it to MS you'll receive a refurbished model, not the one you sent in. And it'll take a while to get it.
