Hi all, im ready to flash my Hitachi drive (GDR-3120L, FW 47dh) and i just wanted to know if the 'SLAX 2.0 Aplpha1' file needs to be burnt to a CD or DVD ??
The reason i ask is that the file is a .iso and i usually burn my iso files with DVD Decrypter, ie: A DVD. Or would burning it as a data CD in Nero do the job ?? Or does'nt it matter which?

Thanks for help on this probably dumb question.

It doesn't matter. I burned mine to a CDR. But if you intend on using Slax to get the Hitachi in modeb and you're using a PCI SATA card, I reccommend a SIL3112 3112/a chipset. 100% works with slax.

You will find out soon enough. I only personally can tell you that a SIL3112 chipset is 100% confirmed working with getting a hitachi in modeB

Hi im gonna go for it tonight, as its my first try i wanted to get everything straight first. The only thing i dont quite understand is the CMD prompt needs to be in the same folder as your hitachi drive files. When i boot back into windows after putting the drive into modeb is the hitachi folder selected automatically ?

I ask because i ran a cmd prompt in windows (not hooked up to xbox) as ive never had to use one before and the line that was already there was 'D:Documents and settings>*****' and i could not delete this line. Do i just start a new line with the hitachi drive letter or will the program be self explanitory??

Thanks for help on this. I already bricked a sammy drive and dont want to do it again with my hitachi.

Well, i managed to get my hitachi gdr-3120L 47DH into mode b and recognised in windows (my computer drive F:) first time and it still is as i cant go any further with it. Its the command prompt im having trouble with. I go to run, type cmd, get a command prompt window. But already written in the box is my D: drive. It says D:>documents and settings/*********. It wont let me delete this and type my own command and if i type flash21.bat like it says i should i get the message 'flash21.bat is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file' !!

Can anybody PLEASE help as im sat here in mode b scratching my head.

Thanks

I guess we didn't answer fast enough so you had to make a new thread. It has been answered in that thread. Also do a google search on "Basic DOS Tips"
