I'm pretty new to Playstation backups as well, but try opening them in DVD Decryptor.

The file you get after the extraction is not a rar but and iso.
This happens because when you installed WinRAR you set the program to open isos.

therefore, take the second file that you get and open it using DVD Decryptor

you'll get either an .ISO or ISO & .MDS file when you are using a set of files you ripped or downloaded. If you're getting anything else after extracting using WinRAR, try renaming the files. Can you get a screenshot & u/l it to imageshack? Sometimes you'll download a set of files & they intentionally gave it a different file extension.

before anyone else gets confused, you didnt actually have WinRAR set to extract iso's,but had WinRAR associated with iso images, thus the reason why the extracted iso image had the "pile of books" type icon that is normally associated with the WinRAR program, giving you the impression, you need to extract it again.
when this happens, you normally get someone on here, saying pls help,i got all these game files
besides,if you look at the extracted file, you will see the .iso extension, whether it looks like an rar archive is totally besides the point, its the extension that matters.
at least you got it sorted :)
