I need help, i have a modded scph-50001 model and it loves to clink alot. I dont know what the problem is, or where the clinking comes from, much less how to fix it. Im pretty sure that it is either 1 of 2 things. 1 could be the worm motor as it makes that familiar clinking noise, or the 2 gears at the top, which also make that noise. When it clinks, i tilt my ps2 back (my ps2 stands)and that would sumtimes help the problem, and i noticed a different kind of clinking, and i know to tilt it forward. This could mean it is a worm motor problem, since im moving the laser, or it could be the laser itself.

Could someone please help!! Thanx a bundle!

it could be the laser too.i had a problem like you so i opened my ps2.then i saw that the metal arms that hold the laser were not lubed enough so i took some lubricant and rubbed it on the arms and voila.the laser moved smoothly on the 2 bars.whatever you do dont use wd40 because that wont help.look around on google...
