Hey guys,

I've been away for awhile and forgot my old account PW.

When I was making backups,

DvdShrink with AnyDVD running first was the best way i was able to make rips.

I know they stoped making Shrink Updates, and the On-Disc Privacy was starting to become a problem.. sony specifically from what i remember.

Im just wondering if this is still the way to go?

Reason i haven't been on much or been out of the game so to speak is my main rig died and i finally got enough money saved up for the new rig.

Still going to be using my trusty LiteON dvd-+RW.. it's not a DL burner. It's an older one.

But anyway i just wanted to say hello again and anything that i've missed and would like to be filled in current changes that' has happened.

Thanks

Rob.

Well I took more time to read on here and from what it looks like.

DvD Shrink. AnyDVD and DVD Fab are still the main apps.

Looks like i didn't miss much

But i did find something on this new program "RipIt4Me" ?

This sounds pretty good.

Can't wait to build and get back in action.

Hey Rob423
You still have a good combo there with AnyDVD and Shrink. Just keep AnyDVD updated.
Yep didn't miss much - still no protection that paid or free programs out there can't crack :)

RipIt4Me is a cool new program - use Shrink, DVD Decrypter and FixVTS. Gove it a go on a Sony or Macrovision. Does a good job too.

Oh & welcome back!

Also thanks for the response.

The neat thing about RipIt4Me is it pulls all the programs together. It's like a guide that opens each app when needed in the process. Creates the psl file for DVD Decrypter too when needed (uses DVD Decrypter instead of dvdfab decypter).
So you would need 4 programs all together (all free).

Has a wizard mode or 1 click mode. May look a little hard at 1st sight but not that bad at all.
Here's a guide that may help you out & links to download:

DVD decryptor better then DVD fab... i believe i was usuing both...

Decrypter is the one that has sorta a plain GUI and works like shrink? but doesn't compress?

and FAB was the one that has more of a candy coating on top more colorfull but only will rip and not compress as well?

or do i have it mixed up.

Nah you sound like you have it straight :)

DVD Decrypter is a great ripper just no longer updated. Yes it does have a plain gui - rips and will burn too - just doesn't compress.
You can get it here:
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/

DVDFab decrypter is a ripper only but is still updated to handle the newer stuff.
You can this one here:
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

If you use RipIt4Me or DVDFab decrypter and have AnyDVD on - both will give a message to turn it off. No biggie - click yes and they turn it off and go on their merry way :)

What's your take on AnyDVD ripper? i didn't know they had one, but someone on another forum was telling me about it and i was insisting that AnyDVD doesn't rip it just gets you past the copy protection.

but i did a few searches and i didn't come up with anything on the official site. but i did see results for it on cdfeaks or one of those sites.

and also what's your take on 1clickDVD..

from what i remember AnyDVD was a small app you just load and it didn't have much options it had like 3 check boxes and you check which ever protection you wanna block etc..

and then just run shrink and rip and it will compress and then burn using something else.

But now AnyDVD has it's own ripper?

Yep AnyDVD has a ripper in it now. The ripper part came about 6 or more months ago. Right click on the red fox and pick the 'rip video-dvd to hard drive' option.

I don't use it as much - others here do. I usually just run AnyDVD in the background w/ Recode, CloneDVD or Shrink.
The latest version of AnyDVD is 6.0.8.2.

The interface looks different now too - still a simple little app that is great at breaking the copy protection. Not only DVD's but CD's and that dam root kit Sony tried.
Also has an option to check (can't remember how long this one has been around) to 'show information window on new media'. Gives you all the info on the disc like the copy protection used.

1Click - not a fan but haven't used it in a good while. If your going to pay than get AnyDVD's companion - CloneDVD.

yea im sure most people aren't paying for it, they probley cracked it. But i'd rather just deal with good free software solutions.

So in all sense you can just use AnyDVD and a burner and you can sort of exclude shrink out of the whole process.

On shrink you know how you can just burn which files you want.. like you can just burn the physical movie and leave all the junk behind. Can AnyDVDs Ripper do that as well?

lol - yeah you're probably right. May also be why they have problems at times w/ them.

Good free apps to do the job are DVDFab Decrypter and RipIt4Me.

The AnyDVD ripper rips the whole disc so you would still need something like Shrink to compress or use re author mode to do movie only.

But if the whole rip was under 4.38 gig or you're using a dual layer disc you could run it w/ ImgBurn (decrypter's updated burning program) and use the build mode to burn.
