No, I dont care where you legitamently got your games from. Do you all just download them from Torrent sites? do you rent and copy? I hear you can subscribe to some site that will send you the games to your computer as soon as they are out... Any advice?

newsgroups for me. I think it's probably about the same for at least half the people here. Don't know what newsgroups are? Here you go with the best guide around. It's a lot of reading, but worth it. http://www.slyck.com/ng.php

Memnock I thank you! I've been using Torrents and pushing 80kbs if im lucky. Just started using a newsgroup and downloaded at 400kbs-420kbs!! This is amazing lol. So want to thank you for the link.

One question though, whata a good server for Xbox360 games + PC games + Moveies? Im currently using a server from NTL as they are my ISP but the group alt.binary.games.xbox360 isnt available (xbox is though). Looking for something cheap tbh.

Many thanks

BTW is there anyway of knowing which groups are listed in a server without having to subscribe to it first?!!?! I've only found such info on GrabIt (which does have alt.binaries.games.xbox360) but a couple of others didnt list it.

No problem, yoclick. I'm glad you are enjoying the power of newsgroups. Giganews is best news server by far. However, it's the most expensive too at $24.99 a month. It's worth every penny to me and it's what I use. Usenetserver is the best cheap deal IMO. They are $40 every 3 months. Both have unlimited downloads which is what you want. Most if not all paid news server should tell you what groups they carry on the sites.

Its amazing how large the difference is, isnt it?

Memnock thanks again for the info. Im not much of a downloader, and Usenetserver seems to be very good at $40 unlimited for 3months.

Torrents - You have to get the files from Seeds. You must also re-seed. The more seeds = the more speed

UseNet (Newsgroups) - Uses all bandwidth to download. No need to upload. Perfect for leachers.

I prefer EasyNews or Giganews.

With what you guys are paying, you can get a gamefly account, and support the devs a little bit. Plus no wait to download.

Yeah and the max you can probably get a month is what 5 or 6 games? I can get that in 2 days off newsgroups. Oh yeah, I don't pay for newsgroups at all anymore. I hacked the EasyNews account and I have a bellsouth free account.

Again I'm glad you guys appreciate the newsgroups heads up. On the actual copying of games, with Xbox 360 games they are quite a pain in the ass to copy. It's not copying PS2 or Xbox games. Those are both very simple in comparision. Plus if you mess up backing up a 360 game you waste a lot more money since DL discs are still pretty expensive. Even if someone wanted to only have back ups of games they legally own it's less hassle to download copies of games you already own than to try to back them up yourselves.

Lastly, it's pretty funny to think copying games you get from Gamefly is supporting developers just like it's funny to think a 3-4 hour wait for a download is bad when you have to mail a game off and wait to get a another game from Gamefly. That whole process has to take 3-4 days minimum.

And the last thing, before I just randomly sign up to this site I know nothing about, lol, How does it work, specifically with this site? Do you just download a program that downloads off that site or how does it work? And just to be clear, it has 360 games, movies and other stuff?

Well I wish you could edit posts so I wouldnt need to post 3 things in a row lol. I have the basics of it now.. you download a "newsreader" then signup to a "newsgroup" and download off that, like a server. However, the Usenet program itself seems to cost money, which makes no sense. The other ones seem free. Do you have to use "usenet" or a certain program for a certain site?

Number 1. Wasting disks, your more likely to dl some bullshit file than to have it mess up when your ripping it.
2. I don't think its as hard as you think, (I bought the pc drive)
3. The money you pay to newsgroups does not go to developers (obviously) but gamefly has to buy the game, so your giving at least some money back, plus I don't have a good internet connection. So I don't want to get into a flame war. So I'm done.

I don't download bullshit and flame wars are never my thing. If you don't have a good internet connection that's a valid point that can't be argued. I don't just use Giganews for 360 games. Movies, software, tv shows, sporting events, music, porn and more is all there for blazing fast downloads if your connection is up to it. I used to spend $45 a month for the blockbuster game and movie pass years ago, but I realized what the point when I can get it all and more of the newsgroups for less?

You can edit. Click the icon that local like a notepad with a pencil in the top right corner above your post. Newsreaders (the program) can be free or pay. With news server access it's the same thing. Your ISP can offer one for free, but it'll never be as good a pay one. They charge, because no one can afford to give everyone with an internet connection 400kbs plus of unlimited bandwidth to download whatever they want whenever they want.

tammikm,

try reinstalling and then unistalling or just system restore your PC to a point when before you installed grabit.
